Continuing on our travels down self declared, “sweets week” on YMC..
Walk down quiet (ok, quiet for NYC) Prince Street in Nolita and you will come across the cutest bakery ever. Little Cupcake Bakeshop only opened about a year or two ago and has quietly become a favorite amongst locals… and seeing the amount of people in there on Sunday, I’m guessing tourists have found this neighborhood gem.
Unlike Magnolia, Little Cupcake has a large inside area that has several tables where you can actually enjoy your treats. On Sunday I sat with a friend to catch up over a coffee (yes, they have delish coffee too) and we drooled over the huge cakes that were continually brought out and set up on the counter. The Peanut Butter and Jelly Cake (of course) caught my eye, as well as the Dreaming Princess cake (almond flavored white cake with raspberry filling, and buttercream frosting topped with almond slivers). Although I was told that the Brooklyn Blackout Cake is a must have- chocolate cake, chocolate ganache middle, chocolate frosting- and I believe it’s even been declared the best chocolate cake in America…
My only issue is, which one will I choose for my birthday? Oh, my birthday isn’t until July but every year choosing a cake (errr, cakes..) becomes kind of a sport. Side note, this is why I can’t have a whole cake- I just can’t decide which one to choose. This year I think I’m going to cobble together one large cake from many huge (different flavored) cake slices. Yes, yes yes..
Up next? Molly’s Cupcakes, which I have been told are stuffed with amazingness… like peanut butter and cake batter (yes, cake batter inside of a cupcake…)
